My name is Marissa Recker and I live and create in Madison, WI. My mixed media originals focus on themes of fluidity and movement.  With my art, I seek to challenge the viewer to feel the same emotions that are familiar to me so that we can celebrate our common human experience together.  Each piece is a personal exercise of letting go, and just as I move the paint freely onto the canvas, I move my heart into it as well. I try to capture emotions familiar to our human experience while drawing out personal feelings that challenge and celebrate each viewer. My heart is in my work and my greatest hope is that each piece will elicit outward joy with a hidden call to contemplation.

Forever Listening

Joy is the central theme of my work. This series focuses on the special joy that comes from conquering difficulty. About 7 years ago I began struggling with an anxiety disorder. The journey to understand my anxiety was and continues to be filled with ups and downs. There is a special, intense joy that comes from the good moments and new realizations experienced through challenging times. I express these moments with color. Choosing to share this part of me with you, has been my awakening. Thank you for being a part of my journey. $495
