ALICE MACDONALD - Chrysalis

I believe that how we adorn ourselves can mirror the beauty with in us. In my work I am inspired by the beauty of nature, history, and the materials that I work with. I have pursued art in so many facets in my life, there has never been a question in my mind that art is my career. I received a BFA from Idaho State University. I have been an artist of many types, painter, potter, costume designer, and for the last decade (plus) a jewelry artist exhibiting at many art shows and galleries around the west. My jewelry is composed of very fine wire, which is crocheted into a web of a collar. I then reweave it with wire, gems, pearls, and beads into intricate and complex designs. My wire necklaces resemble intricate lace, inspired by historical adornments. It is lace that is infused with the beauty of the earth who made the gems, and a shimmer of myths and magic. My work is unique and the techniques that I use I have spent years developing and I truly believe they are art to wear. Wearing one can transform the whole day.
Feel free to contact me during this event. I'm happy to answer any questions about my artwork.
