I’m one of those people who had to be dragged into the “Digital Age” kicking and screaming. Even the thought of having to scan a slide to make a print left me with a “darn kids, get off my lawn!” sort of feeling. But the inevitable moment of truth came when an assignment required I morph a sunflower into a UFO. I was hooked. When I realized I could create practically anything my slightly off-kilter mind thought up, all was lost, and I found a new me – I found an artist. Over the course of my nature + Photoshop travels my passion has evolved into a portrait studio, of sorts, for animals, primarily birds, with the use of technology as a means of highlighting their unique personalities. My intent is never to "fake" a scene with digital wizardry, rather I strive to separate the subject from its background and then add complimentary colors, textures, and natural elements to create a portrait of the natural world. My goal - to enhance, enlighten, entertain, and hopefully on some small level, encourage an appreciation of the beauty of these wonderful creatures. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photography.
